From 1995 to 2018 our family owned and operated Sunlight Supply, Inc. The company was a wholesale only distributor of gardening supplies selling primarily to independent garden centers in the United States and Canada. Over this course of time the company expanded from a single location, headquartered in Vancouver, Washington to 10 US distribution centers and 1 Canadian distribution center. We had over 2,000 customers with sales in all 50 States, occupied 1.2 million square feet of warehouse, office and manufacturing space with just under 600 employees. We had extensive manufacturing facilities of lighting and environmental control products with full sheet metal manufacturing, powder coating with electrical and electronic finished goods assembly. Our product offering consisted of 6500 SKUs including 40 house brands. The Scotts Miracle-Gro (NYSE: SMG) company is the nation’s largest manufacturer of branded consumer lawn and garden products. These products include familiar brands such as Scotts seed and turf products, Ortho herbicide and insecticide products, Miracle-Gro fertilizer products, Round Up herbicide, Tomcat pest control products and many others. In approximately 2013 the company began a series of acquisitions of manufacturers for which Sunlight Supply acted as a primary distributor.
The Formation of the Hargreaves - Medak Family Office
In June of 2018, 100% of the assets of Sunlight Supply, Inc. were acquired by the Scotts Miracle-Gro company in a cash and stock transaction. Additionally, our newly constructed 306,000 square foot world headquarters was also acquired as part of the sale. The proceeds of this liquidation event provided the resources for forming of our family office.
